Mindful Awareness

Cultivating awareness, kindness, and social-emotional intelligence with students from kindergarten through twelfth grade.

School-Based Weekly Classes

Mindful Awareness Program

In addition to learning math and history, students are also discovering the beauty and hardships of the world and their place within it.

Through our school-based Mindful Awareness Program (MAP) we support students at different developmental stages with life skills and insights that strengthen wellbeing and their capacity to engage meaningfully with themselves, their communities, and the wider world through attention, compassion, as well as social and emotional intelligence.

Our evidence-based K-12 curriculum is offered weekly, delivering age appropriate lessons that include open conversations, mindful games, and reflective practices. These sessions complement and strengthen the ways parents, teachers, and administrators already inspire youth to become caring and engaged global citizens.

MAP currently serves schools in a few regions: Boise and the Wood River Valley in Idaho, Jackson, Wyoming, and South Africa.

“Last year, I felt stressed all the time, and sometimes that made me angry. When I feel that way now, I know how to pause and take a deep breath; I have more control over how I feel than I thought I did.”

FAQs

Who teaches the Mindful Awareness Program?

MAP is led by trained Flourish educators specializing in experiential mindfulness, social and emotional learning, and age-appropriate reflection. In partnership with classroom teachers, facilitators cultivate supportive, safe, and engaging learning environments.

How is the curriculum designed?

This evidenced-based curriculum is vertically aligned across all K-12 grades. Lessons grow with student development, revisiting core skills with increasing depth while introducing age appropriate themes such as interconnection, basic goodness, and inner happiness in elementary school, and authenticity, belonging, wholeness, and purpose in middle and high school. Learning is experiential using games, discussion, movement, and reflective practices to help students integrate these skills into their daily life.

How often do students participate in MAP?

MAP is designed as a consistent, year-long experience rather than a one time lesson. Regular participation gives students repeated opportunities to practice, reflect, and integrate the skills into everyday life. Currently, programming consists of weekly, 30-minute lessons from September through May.
